LEVEL 1

The "DJing Level 1" section is aimed at both those who are really starting from scratch, and those who may already be playing professionally, but want -and need- to build a proper foundation to move forward. Here, our members acquire the philosophy of DJing, theoretically and practically, learning the history of electronic dance music and working without a computer or other automation for mixing (except for managing their music library).

They also learn basic techniques, such as beatmatching, while gradually training themselves in managing the time required to prepare a DJ set. Furthermore, Level 1 members enjoy continuous guidance and monitoring from our instructors, individually, so that each one can build their own musical identity.

Other key sections:

• Basic mixing principles - Intro/Outro
• Timing, flow & transitions in the DJ set
• Energy management within the set (warm up, main, after etc.)
• Familiarity with all venues: club, hotel, bar, restaurant, festival etc.
• Music sources (Beatport, Traxsource, Muzrec, Soulseek)
• Genres & styles (house, techno, afro, disco etc).
• Artist profiles / Music Profiles (Soundcloud, Mixcloud)
• Stage presence
• Bookings/ Events Organisation

Lessons are held once a week (2.5 hours), while our members have the opportunity to do two 70-minute practices in our Dj Booths.

So each of our members can be at our place three times a week, for lessons and practice, while the rest of DJSA's facilities such as the Business Hub/Meeting Room are available all week long.
